Self-aligning roller bearing

Self-aligning roller bearings are double-row non-separable bearings, consisting of a solid outer ring with spherical raceways, a solid inner ring, and barrel rollers with a cage. The inner ring features cylindrical or conical bores. The symmetrical barrel rollers can freely align within the spherical raceways of the outer ring. Therefore, they can compensate for shaft bending and misalignment of mating surfaces. Please refer to the compensation for angular misalignment.

Self-aligning roller bearings are capable of withstanding bidirectional axial forces and high radial forces. They are designed for high load capacity, as they feature as many and as long drum-shaped rollers as possible. Self-aligning roller bearings are also suitable for extremely heavy loads, and the optimized fit between the rollers and the raceway ensures uniform stress distribution within the bearing.

Self-aligning roller bearings have high radial load capacity and good impact resistance, and can also withstand bidirectionally acting axial loads, but cannot withstand pure axial loads. Generally, the allowable operating speed of self-aligning roller bearings is relatively low, making them particularly suitable for heavy loads or vibrating loads, as well as low-speed operating conditions. The outer ring raceway of this type of bearing is spherical, so it has good self-aligning performance and can compensate for coaxiality errors.
